Problem Note 19451: Unable to delete columns with spaces or special characters in data grid
of SASĀ® Enterprise Guide
If you attempt to delete a column with a name that contains spaces or
special characters in the data grid of SAS Enterprise Guide, you will
receive the following error at the bottom of the data grid:
Failed to delete columns
To circumvent this problem rename the column, removing the spaces or
special characters, and then delete the column in the data grid. To do
this, open your table in edit mode. Right-click on the column and select
Properties. Modify the column name to remove the space or special
characters and select OK. In the data grid, right-click on the column
again, and select Delete.
A second circumvention is to use DATA step code to remove the column.
Open a code window and run DATA step code similar to the following:
data lib.dsname;
set lib.dsname;
drop 'My Var'n;
run;
